Grants, Funding & Field Project Planning

A clear project plan helps a community explain what it needs, why it matters and how funds will be used. Turf Our Field can help you discuss field scope and budget options as you prepare for conversations with your board, donors or funding partners.

Start with a fundable project description

Document the location, property ownership, existing conditions, sports served, expected users and community benefit. Identify the problem the project addresses. Add field photos, a preliminary scope, a budget with assumptions and a realistic schedule.

Explore several funding paths

Organizations may investigate their own capital budgets, school or community foundations, private donations, sponsorships and grant opportunities relevant to recreation or youth programs. Availability and eligibility vary. A potential funding source should be checked against the current program rules before it is included in your funding plan.

Questions to ask every funding source

Does the program accept your type of organization and synthetic turf projects? Does it require matching funds? Are design, site work, equipment and maintenance eligible? Is funding paid upfront or reimbursed? Are costs incurred before approval excluded? What ownership, public-access, procurement and reporting conditions apply? Confirm answers directly with the funder.

Separate committed funding from possibilities

Track confirmed funds, pending applications and fundraising goals separately. Include a contingency and identify who is responsible for maintenance and future replacement. A phased or partial-field option can be worth evaluating, but it needs a coordinated construction and drainage plan.

Prepare for your first planning conversation

Bring your field location, sport, approximate dimensions, target timing and funding status. Tell us whether you are exploring feasibility, preparing a board discussion or ready for a site review. We can discuss the field scope; we do not promise grant eligibility or an award.
